Carriers and Car Seats
Safety is really important for when you travel. Your pup should love its carrier and car seat. You should never force them in. That will create a bad experience, and will take a long time to undo the damage!
Carriers
Recommend to train your dog go into its carrier is recommended. Similar to crate, this should be happy place for them. We use the cue word “Travel!”
There are a ton of other great carriers! However, we did not want to invest the money in nicer ones since we weren’t sure how much we would fly with him.

X-Zone carrier with expandable sides - we used this when Brioche was smaller. We have only used it for taking him to the vet and around town before we had a car seat. Reasons why we like this one:
Lower cost compared to others while maintaining good quality
Padded interior & good ventilation
Sides extend out so dog can have more space (if traveling via plane)
Fits airline requirements (at the time of posting)
Sherpa Carrier - now that Brioche is 18+ pounds, we had to get a bigger carrier. Reasons we like this one:
Less structured which gives him slightly more room
Has a slit to go over the suitcase handle
Note: This carrier is not suggested for dogs over 22 pounds.

Brioche loved the K&H Pet Car Seat from Day 1. We use it every time we go in the car, whether its a 5 min ride, or a 6 hour trip. Great for small dogs/medium dogs that might need a booster to see outside.

This is on the more expensive side for car seats, but for us, safety and comfort is really important. If we get into an accident, we would want our dog to be safe, too.
Other Great and Cost-Effective Options
Kurgo Car Seat Harness
Some other options that may be more cost effective, while still providing a safe journey. These are better for medium to large sized dogs since they are large enough to see out the window without a booster. We suggest Kurgo for all of these items as some are crash tested and have life time warranty.
