A checklist to get you ready before your dog comes home

Items for your home:
Water and Food Bowl - stainless steel
Food Scooper - make sure to buy the right size. Don’t buy 1 cup scooper if your dog eats only 1/2 cup every meal.
Dog bed and/or blankets - you can always share yours if you don’t want to buy any!
Pee Pads (if you choose to use these)
Crate (if you choose to crate train)
Bell (if you choose to use during potty training)
Puppy proof (set up gates and remove easy access wires)
Items for your puppy or dog:
Poop Bag Dispenser (some people prefer to tie bags to leashes instead)
A few chew toys, plushes, and balls to start (ok, maybe a lot of chew toys)
ID Tag (Pet Name and Your Phone Number)
Collar (adjustable)
Harness (adjustable)
Clicker (if you plan to use this for training)
Dog Wipes (if you plan to wipe paws upon entering your home or car)
Rawhide alternatives for chewing (e.g. bully sticks, lamb ears, cow ears, etc.)
Flea / Tick Brush to make sure your pup is critter free
Items for health:
Vet appointment to discuss health check up, vaccinations, and micro chipping
Grooming Brush (Pin and Bristle)
Grooming Brush (Slicker for Mats - necessary for poodle mixes)
Nail Clippers or Buffer (if you plan to do it yourself)
Pet insurance (optional)
“Nice to Haves” Items
Accessories (e.g. bandanas, bow ties)
Mat to hold water and food bowl in the event there are spills
Air-tight containers for treats
Play Pen - speed up potty training but you can survive without
Grooming Kit - scissors, sheers, clippers made specially with safety features for dogs
Dog Ramp for very small dogs that cannot get onto the couch
Treat bag so you don’t have to hold treats in your pocket or a plastic bag
